I’m sorry.

I really, really am. But grad school and work and my writing gig at WW have given me little to no time to post here (that is a lie, im just lazy and forgetful).

BUT…. things are rolling along in music land… cervantes had their grand-reopening (which the bathrooms weren’t finished for), I went and saw a pretty good little post-grunge trio called The Ultraviolent Lights at Quixotes (odd venue for such a band) and ended up being one of three people in the audience, and i made it to one night of the disco biscuits at the fox (i don’t remember much from that, other than the music never stops at a DB show).

and today, i snagged two tickets to two of the three nights of the return (sortof) of the string cheese incident at Red Rocks this summer. so, my summer is starting to take shape it seems….

that, and rumored phish dates:
Wrigley 6/10
Deercreek 6/11,12,13
Huntington Park Columbus 6/16
Charlotte 6/18
Va Beach 6/19
Toronto 6/21
hershey park 6/22
MPP 6/23
atlanta 6/25, 26, 27

break
7/12 Jones beach Flushing NY
15th PNC
7/16&17
Camden 18&19
7/31 Denver
Gorge 8/5,6,7
VEGAS 8/9,19 (MGM Grand?)
Hollywood Bowl tour closer 8/13,14

SO, i hope that’s a good amount for my first update of the year. i promise i’ll post more in the near future!

OH, CRAP. i almost forgot:

I’m going to be in Jamaica in mid-march, so more travel bloggins to come!

So, I completely spaced uploading a series of Independence Day shows from years past from several bands (WSP, phish, ymsb, sci, etc…)…

so i really have nothing to offer. but, thankfully you — my loyal seven (5) readers — come back regardless… i will reward your patience when I get back to Denver with tunes galore.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday… I’m here in surprisingly-breezy and cool Charlottesville, Virginia lounging by the pool and throwing a few rounds of disc-golf in the acreage that is Erin’s parent’s backyard.

but that isn’t the point. you shouldn’t even be reading this right now (and i shouldn’t be typing it)!

it’s time to grill up some dead animal flesh and blow up something with light artillery!

no juice!

June 25, 2009

HOLY FUCK.

SERIOUSLY… you guys just put me over 430 hits from last night. wow. thanks!!!

sorry about the lack of posts towards the end of the show.. the phone ran out of juice.

overall it was very good. very old-school playing (and i had a lot of people i know have seen this band for at least the last 10 years agree with me on that).

they sounded good as well, with the exception of the (still) lack of keith in the mix. seriously, they need more low end in there from him…

my only ‘meh’ was rivertrance. the glitch-hop breakdown in the middle was absurd and really took me out of the song… I know that song gets trancy and dancy… but the glitch sounded VERY forced. otherwise the jams did not delve into the ‘untz’ relm at all and it was very refreshing.

extremely talkative crowd last night as well. I was a bit surprised by that, honestly… as most people who were chatting it up seemed to also be pretty “into” sci..

way too many ticketless fucking wooks out front making things a mess and security blew…

but overall i’d give it a good grade for the first show back in two years.

oh, and i’m EXTREMELY hungover and have a broken toe from some dumb whore stepping on my foot in her go-go boots.

seriously though, thanks for reading the blog, folks. I’ll try and keep this live-update at shows thing going strong — it’s a lot of fun for me to do as well.

have a great thursday, friends… i’ll get the SCI recording up as soon as it surfaces!

Quote of the day

Wookette, while shoving junk food burger and fries in her face, while throwing away trash:

“where the FUCK is the recycling?!?”

Wookery

June 25, 2009

This is really crazy. It’s like everyone had their SCI clothes and everyhing still unwashed from red rocks 2007 and just threw it back on.

I’m surrounded by literally over 100 ticketless people.

Sci at the ogden

June 24, 2009

In line to pick up my tickets to the secret SCI show tonight at the Ogden. It’s a clusterfuck of people out here – no real line.

People with fingers in the air are standing around with the people actually waiting for tickets. Total mess

And it’s raining. Smells like wet wook out here
